A Defining Moment

The moment that changed everything

Phil’s path into healthcare didn’t begin in a clinic. It began on a remote New Zealand road after completing a first aid course in the early 2000s.

While driving through the South Island, he came across a 14-year-old girl lying injured in the middle of the road after falling from a horse. Suspecting a spinal injury, he stayed with her, stabilised her head and neck, and helped keep her calm until emergency services arrived.

As she was loaded into the ambulance, she squeezed his hand and thanked him. In the weeks that followed, Phil received heartfelt letters from the girl and her family — grateful not only for his help, but for the calm reassurance he brought during a frightening moment.

That experience changed the course of his life.

Frontline Experience

Years on the frontline

Moved by that experience, Phil began volunteering with his local ambulance service before going on to build a career in emergency medicine.

He spent 8–10 years working full-time on frontline ambulances in New Zealand, gaining extensive experience in emergency response, patient assessment and IV access in unpredictable, high-pressure environments. He later began commuting to Australia, where he gained AHPRA registration as a advanced care paramedic, before permanently relocating in 2021 and continuing to work within the private medical sector.

Some roles also required additional qualifications in fire rescue operations and remote emergency response, further strengthening his ability to remain calm, think clearly and provide high-level care when conditions are less than ideal.

For Phil, this wasn’t just clinical training — it was an education in how to care for people when they’re vulnerable, overwhelmed, in pain, frightened, or simply needing someone competent and calm in the room.

Why Mastery Wellness

From emergency care to proactive wellbeing

After years in frontline medicine, Phil began noticing a pattern.

People were often waiting until their health, stress levels or energy had already reached a crisis point. By their 40s, many were already exhausted, inflamed, depleted and carrying the cumulative effects of chronic stress, poor recovery, nutritional gaps and emotional overload.

Mastery Wellness was created as a response to that pattern.

Rather than waiting for things to unravel, Phil wanted to build a service that offered a more proactive, personalised and supportive approach to wellbeing — one that helps people recover, restore and perform at a higher level before they hit the wall.

Today, Mastery Wellness blends clinical experience with integrative wellness support, offering premium mobile IV therapy, recovery-focused wellness care and nervous system-informed coaching designed around the individual.

Beyond The Treatment

A broader approach to wellness

Phil’s philosophy is simple: true wellbeing is not just about treating symptoms — it’s about creating the conditions for people to function better physically, mentally and emotionally.

That belief led him to explore a broader range of modalities beyond emergency medicine and IV therapy, including Neuro Transformation Therapy and EFT Tapping, with a growing focus on stress recovery, nervous system support and emotional wellbeing.

For some clients, IV therapy is the starting point. For others, the deeper work involves learning how to regulate stress, restore energy, build resilience and reconnect with themselves in a more sustainable way. Mastery Wellness was built to support both.

My goal is simple — to help people feel safe, supported and better resourced in their own body. Whether that’s through IV therapy, recovery support or coaching, I want every client to feel genuinely cared for, not processed.
